Supporting the Next Generation of Stuyvesant
The Class of 1965 has set up a Scholarship Fund for Stuyvesant’s graduating seniors to help them with the enormous expenses of a college education. The scholarship is in memory of their classmate, Jay Levinson ’65, who died at age 19 serving as an infantry soldier in Vietnam. After graduating from Stuyvesant at age 16, Jay got a full-time job at the New York Stock Exchange while also attending Hunter College part-time. He did this to help his family who lived in the Monroe Projects in the Bronx and needed his help financially. According to many of his Stuyvesant classmates, Jay was an excellent athlete with a wonderful personality.
